*After many bakes, it is clear that cutting in cold butter is unnecessary. For this application melted butter is just fine.

I like to bake Irish Soda bread in a small Dutch oven.  This contains the sides and gives a higher loaf.  Also, the dough can be wetter and end up with more moisture.  And a dutch oven was traditionally use more often than not as far as I have been able to learn.

I like the color and the look of the crumb in yours.  Nice work.
