Had a quick bake today testing a recipe for a friend that was in her breadmaker  booklet,  it came out rather nice but i did tell her hers wont come out looking the same.

The Garlic and Herb dough placed into the cold Sassafras and washed with cornflour paste

The poppy and sesame seed applied

Proved nicely with the lid on  and ready for the oven

straight from the oven

Cooling down This was a fast dough  mixed at 9am  and out the oven  close to mid day

it was actually a tasty piece of bread  The dough was mixed on the bench by hand.

flour 520g

salt 10g

dried yeast 10g

malt 10g

milk powder 10g

fresh chopped garlic 10g

Australian dried herbs 5g

Olive oil 10g

water 350g

MMMmmm, looks great!

What's the size/weight of the contents of a typical grocery store packet/sachet of dried yeast in AU ?

It's 7 grams in the US. I've read of 10 grams in some countries.

Yes its 7g here in Aus  i buy mine in the tube and thats 280g i will amend the yeast omission thanks for that

Regards Derek

Wow Derek, that is one fancy looking loaf.  I love the crumb it has a nice yellow hue I would have guess that it had eggs in it, but I don’t see that in the ingredients.  The lovely braided decoration and seeds make the outside look so inviting.

Hi Benny thanks , i think the photo is not quite true to color being indoor and the flash reflecting the yellow from the cutting board somewhat.

The milk powder does have a yellow hue. As you can see the cornflour paste has done a good job  catching and sticking the seeds which i applied in reverse for the two pieces.

Did you notice the natural ear that occurred along the edge of the braid/twist.
