Look! No oven!

Toast

We are cruising on our (new to us) sailing yacht and I baked a sourdough loaf this morning using my Omnia stove top oven.........

I’m very happy with the result ?

We have a camper van, but no longer have our old Coleman stove-top oven.  Thanks for posting!

Curious to know how you're gauging the temperature of the Omnia oven.   I have a few thermometers held over from a back-pack oven - you basically set them on the lid (under a tented dome) to get an estimate of the temp (I'm assuming bake = about 350F - I've never tested it). Not sure if this would work however, as there is no tented dome in this case?

Digital temperature probe to measure the internal temp'.  To be honest I just 'wing it' regarding the hob setting (Camping Gaz Butane on the boat) ...... not too high..... not too low.....haha.  I generally find that about 25 to 30 minutes give the desired result (98c or thereabouts)

Actually, I have been experimenting with my Trangia spirit stove and although it is only 1kw heat output it works very well....... I used it to bake the above sourdough.  It of course took longer (50 mins) but worked well and is considerably cheaper (over here in UK and Eire) than Camping Gaz.

All goes to show how much you can 'abuse' bread dough and still get a decent result!
