no bake just boiled bread

every holiday my gma always made what she called "Big Huntz"  servred with some berry sause.

here is the receipe:

1c melted Lard/shortening

3 eggs

1 tsp soda

3C milk

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnanon

1/2 tsp all spice

1 C Rasins

6 C flour

Boil for 3hrs slice and serve.

not realy an oven bread but is anyone familiar with this bread?

 

 

Sounds like a Scottish 'clootie dumpling' - named for the 'cloot' or cloth it was boiled in.

 Eaten warm with custard for 'pudding' and even better sliced and fried with bacon for breakfast next morning!

Sounds like one to try on a scout campout. I've baked breads in a dutch oven over charcoal, but this sounds much easier.
