For the last few weeks, Winter seemed to be finally giving up it’s hold on the Northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada, so we planned a picnic to kick off the next 4 months of picnics. Of course it rained all day and kept to mid-forties temperatures, so we migrated indoors, but the conversation, salads, wine and blackberry pie were still enjoyed by all.
I made the pie and asperge vinaigrette as well as the breads which included a few baguettes, pains d’épis and a sand dollar fougasse inspired by a recent TFL post by @calbeachbaker and our early Spring trip to PointReyes National Seashore.

Greetings from SoCal, your breads look great. How was the sand dollar?
Tony
A bit chewy in truth. Next iteration we’ll make it more like the pizza-esque slices we had in Bordeaux—cheesy with herbal inclusions.
We are finally having some decent weather here on Long Island, NY. Not as warm as I would prefer but better than you 😆. Nice selection of breads for your indoor picnic.
Best,
Ian
