I've got a bread machine that does not perform well when making gluten-free bread. I've seen that there are bread machines that have such an option, but do not know whether this is something legitimate or just a marketing ploy.
Does anyone have any experience with these machines? Is it worth the money to purchase one?
Thanks
george
Compared to wheat-based ones, a GF cycle has extended mix times, little or no kneading, no punchdown/degassing, and extended, hot bakes.
The latter, hot bakes, is where most machines falll short, even if they get the cycle/program right.
I have two machines that have GF programs. I've never made a GF loaf in them but they received good reviews for their GF performance. And they are good, hot bakers: The T-fal Actibread (PF311) and the Panasonic SD-RD2550. Here's a link to the review:

Unfortunately T-Fal no longer sells bread machines into the US market so you'd have to find a used one. It's worthwhile, IMO... the PF311 is an excellent machine. T-fal do have good online support for parts and info through their website.
The RD2550 is expensive but is excellent.
Thanks for the information. I was aware of her website but did not realize that she had tested machines. That is the sort of information I needed.
