Thanks for sharing this.So much fun to watch. Playful couple is like Sonny and Cher. Reminded me of when I worked in the sweatshops of New Bedford. We sat at our machines for 8 hours. I put on buttons and made buttonholes. Piecework was hard to do. You had to βmake your payβ then a bonus was given for whatever you made after that.
I feel quite clumsy when it comes to sewing. I have only sewn two garments - a blouse that earned me an "A" in a Home Economics class in college, where I learned how to sew, and a dress I wore in a ballroom showcase before realizing I had no talent for sewing. As a result, I gave up and never ventured far enough to learn how to use the buttonhole feature on my Singer machine.
I still vividly remember meticulously aligning the sleeve and front plaids. It was challenging for a newbie!
Hi yippee. I too am not a good seamstress. I knew I wasnβt cut out for working in the mills in New Bedford MA when I sewed a needle through my finger. So I became a teacher instead. No danger from chalk.

Yippee,
I love your dress!! Stunning. I used to sew and I know what you mean by the labor of setting a sleeve!
I made so many mistakes while making this dress, but I'm not telling!

"I've seen them on the side of the road many times". So folks there have bought these things and abandoned them? Hard to imagine.
A bit hard to follow... so fast-paced, dense, no space between one thought and the next.
I think he meant that he had seen it being used by street hawkers frequently.
