Sunday I made a holiday bread that was pretty much like a stollen.
I didn't have marzipan and I baked it in a loaf pan, but otherwise it was basically the BBA stollen recipe. It was excellent. I think I'm going to bake a double batch today and give some to the neighbors.
You may have heard, Oregon got walloped with a doozy of a snow storm. Keep in mind that we rarely get more than an inch or two of snow here. Yet here is picture of me yesterday climbing back up the hill after sledding down it with the kids.
And it is still snowing today. Sounds like it won't warm up enough to start melting until tomorrow.

Sounds like xx-country skis would be helpful, Floyd. You're lucky it will start melting tomorrow. We've had 100 inches of snow this autumn. Another four months of it to come. :-( Great for the groundwater and Great Lakes, but getting tiresome to deal with.
Your bread is lovely; I've got six baguetts cooling; four more in the oven, and two North Woods sourdoughs going in as soon as the baguettes come out. The sleigh is loaded (except for the bread), then off for an hour's drive through the falling snow for a family Christmas.
Enjoy your white Christmas!
Absolutely, cross country skis or snowshoes would come in very handy. I actually have a pair of skis and poles in the garage, but the boots fell apart so I'm out of luck.
Merry Christmas to you too!
...Very good.
btw, where are you headed with that can of Prunes? :-)
They are in the bread. Raisins, prunes, apricots, cherries, cranberries, pretty much every kind of dried fruit I could get my hands on. Chopped up pretty small, mind you. They are great!
I'm not complaining. It has thrown a monkey wrench in a lot people's travel plans, but we've been enjoying it. And, no question, Canadian prairie cold beats my Oregon cold by a mile.
Beautiful looking Holiday Breads...Happy Holidays to You and Yours!

Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too!
it looks like where I grew up and lived for 50 years, New England. My 17 y/o stepson called and said : "I know you hate the snow, but I'm excited" to which I replied, "I'm excited for you". Truly, I am, but sigh, it gets old real quick.
Love the snow capped Stollen, Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Betty
