Glad used to make them but now they don’t. The Ziplok brand bags are no good with the zipper lock plus they are 10 x as expensive. Yes amazon has some made by Hefty (Baggies) but if you read the negative reviews these bags are really poor quality. Thanks in advance for any help.
I use some similar to these. I get several uses out of each bag. I can't find them in my Amazon history so what I have may not be these but they look very similar.
A quick search of my usual go-to baking suppliers yielded bags at King Arthur (here), Breadtopia (here), and Country Life Natural Foods (here).
For our ordinary sandwich bread that comes out of the bread machine, I use ordinary whispy-thin gallon twist tie storage bags. The 100 count box is $3.64 at my local Walmart. (Search for "Great Value Twist Tie Storage Bags, Gallon, 100 Count")
I use the same bags when I bake loaves in the oven, but sometimes a loaf does not fit. When I buy produce at the grocery store, I usually grab an extra courtesy produce bag or two for those larger loaves.
I would like to find is inexpensive long paper bags for baguettes. I can find expensive ones, but not low cost ones.
The bread bag prices that I see online are unreasonable. I am not willing to pay more for a bag than the cost of the ingredients in the loaf of bread that it contains. Our local bakeries must be getting inexpensive bags from somewhere. They can't be paying the prices that I see.
I am not a professional. The bread I make is consumed by my family or given to neighbors and friends. When they see the bread, nobody complains about the bag.
Agree with what you said and thank you for the advice. Sadly, Walmart USA does not ship to Canada. Their bags are exactly what I am looking for. Since the pandemic, basic items like this are getting really hard to find and/or really expensive…
I purchase bread bags from a company called Shadow Plastics. They sell 1000 at a time.
Here are the sizes the carry. They are the manufacturer.
I'm walk in trade when I buy mine, so I don't know if they would sell to an individual. You could call them or email to find out. While a 1000 lot might be expensive, individually they would most probably be very competitive.
