Was my favorite place in the area when I lived there. It’s technically in Somerville, but same area. It’s a fancier small plates restaurant. The same people own a casual bakery and cafe in Cambridge called Sofra, which is very popular but also very crowded.
The food at both places looks delicious! Sofra's website shows another restaurant, Oleana, as its business partner. Have you ever dined at this restaurant? If so, what did you think of it?
But it was a few years ago. As far as I remember, it was good as well. But Sarma was the place my family always wanted to go to when they visited, so I remember it better. One caution: I looked at more recent reviews, and some reviewers said the place had become overpriced since the pandemic. But that’s probably true of a lot of places in the area.
If you wish to take an excursion not far from the city, Bread Obsession is the brick and mortar wholesale (meaning not open for walk-in) business of TFL's longtime, but these days rarely contributing, Varda. It is/was located in Waltham MA, but may have moved as the business has grown.
We appreciate fine cuisine from all over the world. I want to go to places you guys have tried and enjoyed rather than relying on online reviews, which can sometimes be misleading.
My wife and I ate here a couple of times and enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere (family owned and appeared to have several regular customers when we were there). Desfina Restaurant

However there is now a retail store in the historic city of Lexington MA. https://www.bread-obsession.com
I'm fairly certain that Varda would like to meet another long time TFLer.
A great bakery just off the green line in Brookline is Clear Flour. Here is a link to the website: https://www.clearflourbread.com/
What kind of food do you like? There are many restaurants in Harvard Square and in Central Square.
Happy baking.

Cute graffiti in the graffiti park.

Thanks for recommending Desfina and Sofra; nice eateries indeed. Didn't make it to Sarma, and Bread Obsession is closed until September.
