I was on here last year and came across a post that posted a link for a highly recommended, incredible garbanzo/chickpea sandwich filling, and I thought I printed or bookmarked it, but I cannot find it anywhere. It was in a post of sourdough starters, but there are sooooo many it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I would love to find that again. It was incredible.
I want to say it was in a scientific post about starters, with ongoing discussion between a woman who is a scientist and did some cool studies and a guy who was really trying to learn and offering his successes and challenges for suggestions. I just cannot remember it. I think there was a link in the comments, and there were a ton of comments.
Try searching for, Deborah Wink. Enjoy!
That was one of the first things I tried. I know I had read the posts about Pineapple Juice parts 1 and 2, and I cannot for the life of me remember where to go after that.
The Laurel's Kitchen cookbook has a recipe for a garbanzo spread that is very good. I haven't made it in years, but I just might dust it off and make some. The cookbook also has a soybean spread that is also very good and some split pea spreads that I have not tried.
I do not have that cookbook so cannot say if it is the right one or not, unfortunately. Any way you could just list the ingredients? That might show me whether I need to pursue this recipe or keep hunting. This whole site is so vast that it's like truly trying to find a needle in a haystack -- though I am certain there is a better bread analogy that my brain won't come up with right this moment. 😂
The ingredients are:
I am hesitant to copy/post the recipe outright for copyright reasons. IIRC, I used to add a bit of mayo to give it a creamier texture but it's been a while since I made it.

Thank you for the attempt to help! That one is for a bunch of different things someone put on bread, but not the garbanzo filling I originally found. This is making me feel better that my initial searches gave similar results as the ones you guys are getting. I am so hoping to find this still.
The mind is a tricky thing. We read "A", but then our mind files it under synonym "B". So you're going to need other search words to find it, as you have exhausted "chickpea filling" and "garbanzo filling."
Maybe humus or dip, or sandwich or bread.
Or maybe another similarly named website, perhaps www.theperfectloaf.com
I don't think "Mother Earth News" will mind you looking at this article. "This Garbanzo Spread Recipe from "Laurel's Kitchen" makes a delicious sandwich spread filled with nutrition for your good health.

Dave,
Yep, that's the one from the book. I hadn't thought to look online for a reprinted copy of the recipe.
I appreciate it, guys! Thank you so much!

I am wondering if I followed several links that actually have me on a different site all together. I thought I had marked it, but it has been a little while since I used that recipe. Thanks all for the attempts! I so appreciate it.
