Hi all,
Long time lurker here, I've been absorbing the info on tfl for many years.
I'm about to take the plunge and get a mill. I'm wondering if any Australian members know of good grain suppliers?
I love what breadtopia offers, with different strains of wheat, and some heirloom varieties, particularly keen on trying red wheats and einkorn. Shipping to australia is prohibitive (though I'll probably do it just once for novelty), so does anyone know of an equivalent in oz?
It seems fairly easy to get bulk bin wheat grains around melbourne, though interestingly I’ve noticed that price ker kg of wheat in a bulk bin runs about the same as a decent stoneground flour in 12.5kg lots – I would have hoped bulk grains would work out cheaper, but I’m willing to pay the same or a little more for flavour and versatility I guess.
Thanks in advance for any tips.
Hi Bakeface
TheAG shows which have recently happened ie Perth Royal Show usually have very good displays from the different districts and use different grains in some of their displays so these might be good sources of different grains.
Not sure what state you are in but found this calendar interesting https://agshowsaustralia.org.au/shows/ you might be able to pop along or contact organisers and get some contacts.
Kind regards Derek

These places might give you a better price if you buy in bulk.
Good luck!
