I always wondered how this was being done... my first try.
I now know what needs to be done to improve on this. This has no real use other than the wow factor, in my opinion.

a wow factor! That's amazing.
Just because it caught my fancy... from some photos I saw.
The flared bits have a pita chip look to them...no doubt a lot of intricate work to make this bread. At first glance it looks like a sunflower, it's quite impressive, beautifully done!
and that was one of the issues with this bake. Chips started getting brown quicker than the rest of the boule. I wanted thin petals but...
