M.C. Beaton writes a series of mysteries set in the Scottish Highlands. Several of the books praise the scones made by the Currie sisters as being "feather-light."

Is this different from the typical English scone? Every scone I've ever had was rather dense. How do you make a feather-light scone?

Light compared to heavy does not tell you an object is lightweight. It just tells you it is lighterweight than a heavy object.
