I saw this video on the weekend and thought it was a great story.. mostly because I'm in my 50s.. and isn't the dream of every suit that he should throw away the ties and start a bakery....
But here's the thing.. look at how far /deep he slashes.. I know he's going "with the grain".. but I'm surprised.. Do any of you slash that deeply? Maybe I should get more aggressive with my lame?

Yes, as a sixty-something ex-management consultant-turned-community-baker, I am SOOOOO much happier doing this than I ever was consulting to big government and big healthcare organizations. My income is an order of magnitude lower than it was then, but so is the stress level. I never want to get as big as that guy though - no employees or commercial premises for me and if I want to go on holiday I send a note to my customers and tell them when I'll be away.
Those are epic slashes, for sure. He almost slashes the loaf into pieces! :)
Well, as this article proves.. there's still hope for me! :)

Ehrm, the slashing technique in the video needs a radical upgrade. That is one dull knife...,

I enjoyed watching it. Lazy Loafer really is livin' the dream. We had the pleasure of visiting her "in home" bakery late last year, and it's quite an operation. (Thanks again for your hospitality Lazy Loafer.) I only wish I'd remembered to take some photos. I could have done a post about it here on the site, and given her business a well deserved plug! marybeth
Thanks Marybeth, it was lovely to meet you and Mark; I could talk to other bakers for hours and hours! Thanks for listening... :)
First off, don't give up on that dream of becoming a baker...

Yes, I watch a lot of videos. No, I don't slash that deep.
Thanks for sharing..
