With the help of this forum and others out there on the internet I was finally able to finish my Model G and get it running. It was fun and stressful ride and now I get to hand it over as a Christmas gift. I wanted to make my post there to offer my help to anyone out there with the same mixer. I took mine completely apart and as a result know this device intimately.
Here are the pics. Unfortunately the spray paint is already chipping, but i'm starting to like the look.
The control arm in the base that raises and lowers the bowl broke. If someone has a spare they are willing to sell me please message me. I will probably look for a machine shop that can create a new one.

You put the bowl locking spring backwards !
By the way, many parts of the column&base are still common with the KitchenAid K5 so you will probably be able to replace your broken part in this way
It looks like I did but I actually didn't. I can move the bowl arms freely up and down. Right they are are sticking which is why they look like they are in the up position.
I looked through Hobarts documentation. I even researched patents and this particular piece I need is not identical to what is currently used in the N50
With the retainer backward or forward, you did a very nice job on the restoration. Have you put the mixer into service yet? If so, did you get good results?

Retainer is back.. but its usually friction to stay in place (if that makes sense)
It hasn't mixed dough yet, but I let it spin on all speeds for some time yesterday. No unusual sounds and it's much quieter. I replaced some of the internal electrical wiring due to it's age. I will be purchasing a new plug and cord which will have a ground and polarized.
This was a fun project. I'm looking to get my hands on another.
