Time for some holiday breads and I've just tried my hand at Norway's entry to the Best Christmas Bread competition. And even though it doesn't blow you away with richness like panettone nor is as indulgent as Stollen, I must say it will be my favourite for Christmas breakfast. Toasted and buttered!
It seems quite fool proof (I've made two, with equally good results), isn't fickle about rising and proving and has the nicest cardamom flavour.
My version of the recipe is here, I owe it to having pored over several Norwegian recipe sites (thankfully the bread has only a few easy-to-decipher ingredients!). God jul!

First, that is a very beautiful loaf of bread. Raisins, orange peel and a hint of spice? Yum, sounds like a lovely way to start the day.
I love bread with fruit in it. Well done!
This one is a keeper! Well done and happy baking
And the French toast idea is brilliant, or a bread and butter pudding.
Have you tried making it with sourdough starter instead of commercial yeast? I've been staying away from yeast since I have totally enough starter in my fridge (Sir Bobby Farts-Alot is an avid producer). So, if I'd try to convert this to sourdough going with 70g of starter for half your recipe, do you think that's enough? I usually bake "minis" at 350g flour and 245g liquid with 60 - 70 g of starter. But I don't bake many enriched doughs with butter or even milk. I do enrich them with beer though :) gotta have some type of vice. Thanks for your answer.
