Top view of straight dough

Toast

Hi all,

This is the top view of my very 1st bread (straight dough )

The top of the crust was burnt, but the rest of crust was nice and drank brown.  I think the top of my oven is too hot.

Don't have the huge oven to switch the position of the Dutch oven. It sits only in one particular position.

Also,  my hands got slightly burnt even through the mits,  but I guess you have to quick when you handle these hot ovens.

Many lessons learned after this baking session.  I Can't wait to try other more complex recipes.

Wish me luck. :)

try lining the lid of your Dutch oven with some tin foil. It might create enough of a shield to stop the burning.

By the way, which element did you have on to bake? It looks like your top or broiling/grilling element came on for some reason.

set up? Maybe we can give you some more ideas. My second idea (I was thinking foil in the lid too") is that you could flip the loaf upside down half way through the bake time. Or don't take the lid off. Do you have a mini oven? Give us the details, please.
