Well this was a pleasant surprise!

Toast

Here in the UK I am a member of another 'bread forum' which currently has a weekly competition for weekly 'Super Sourdough Champion'.......

Imagine my surprise to discover that this week the winner is ME !  :)

What a nice surprise for you!

fancy polka-dot plate!  Way to go.  You won a jar of their 60 year old starter too!  Who said there wasn't a SD culture in the UK?  You wiil get to see the difference someone elses's starter can make.

Happy SD baking with ancient starter!

Doing the happy dance for you :)

The scoring is very cool!

Great job.

What a perfect presentation with your lovely plate! Congratulations!

P.S. What kind of bread is this?

Congrats! And I am totally stealing that scoring pattern, that's gorgeous.

for your lovely comments.  To be honest this loaf was a 'normal' loaf that I only decided last minute to enter in the competition!  I have tried every week for 6 weeks now so I was beginning to lose the faith ;)

Double edge razor blades ............ way to go!

Wow, that's such a nice recognition for a job well-done! Did they taste it too?

That is really cool, and a nice prize is icing on the cake!

I have been busy with work and house moving but this morning I had a chance to bake with my new 'old' sourdough that Hobbs House Bakery sent me last week.

Wish I could create that, too!  What flour did you use to coat the dough and the basket?

Hi Yippee, I use rice flour to coat the basket, I simply sprinkle some through a small 'tea sieve'.

It really does avoid 'stick ups' and I like the nice contrast with the bread flour :)
