Hobart N50 beater doesn't rotate

Toast

Help my beater will not rotate in any of the three speeds on my Hobart N50 mixer. I disassembled the metal ring, removed the drift pin and examined the planetary gear. It appears pristine. I'm not sure what else to look for. Several months ago I replaced the plastic bowl lift gear and it's been working, but now I can turn on the mixer and physically grab ahold of the beater and the motor spins but the beater is stationary. Any suggestions? Thank you. george young

If you don't know about them, there is a group on yahoo called WACEM (an acronym for We Actually Collect Electric Mixers). You can view it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wacem.  They specialize in this sort of stuff if nobody on TFL can help. I think you have to request a membership before you can view the detailed posts, there should be some info at the site.

Hello Georgeyoung,

First you could confirm that motor is spinning correctly. After that, you may stall the planetary with your hand and check if the front attachment hub revolves or not. This will help to locate where is something bad into the gearbox.
