Desert island bread

Toast

I was asked this while eating breakfast this morning by my husband, if you could only eat 1 bread for the rest of your life what would it be? I have to say it would be a slow rise seeded wholewheat. A bit boring but I love the texture and taste. Its not as easy as it sounds but what would yours be?

if it was a deserted island, no one would be there.  :)

If I could only eat one bread for the rest of my life, I'd be very, very sad. I'd have a hard time deciding between a lovely Pain au Levain, with mild fresh starter and a bit of whole wheat flour, or maybe something loaded with toasted seeds, or the ultimate comfort bread - Oatmeal Raisin. Or maybe Cheese & Onion sourdough, which is what my kitchen smells like right now!

whole grain sprouted ones with seeds nuts and fruits of some kind - I love em all though.  There are just too many that are too good to pass up for just one.  I wouldn't  go to a desert Isle if there was only one bread allowed it would be boring - without variety you would just wither and die bread wise.

Plus we all know that the bread is always browner on the other desert island anyway.

Would drive me nuts LOL

I tend to bake according to whim, going from crusty white French-style bread through to 70% wholegrain sourdough and just about everything else in between. Often depends on what is open / what wants using up. That and what kind of deli is lurking in the fridge...

Choose one? I don't think I could. Would be easier to ask which kind of *FLOUR* to take to a desert island LOL... One kind of flour can still yield a multitude of different breads ;-)

It would have been the ultimate April Fools gag if I had answered this last night and given "Wonder Bread" as my answer!  LOL

Maybe a honey whole wheat, for instance.  Or perhaps a light deli rye.

The thought of never ever having Shiao Ping's chocolate sourdough again is too horrible to contemplate.

This is a hard question like picking out your favorite child.

I think it would be a mixed grain seeded loaf bread, but I would miss my other children desperately.

This thread to me is typical of the good humored response and why I enjoy posting to this site so much!
