My dough hook is about 3/4" shorter than the wisk and paddle that I got with the machine.  When using it for bread dough, the hook does not clean the bottom of the bowl.  I thought about adjusting the height, but then noticed the discrepency in the height of the tools.  Adjusting for the hook would cancel using the other two tools as they would scrape the bowl.

 If anyone owns one of these machines, could you check the lengths of the three tools.  Also I have some numbers on the separate tools if you have those maybe I can compare them. Thanks

That is pretty much the norm, the whisk hitting the bottom and the hook doing so would have totally different results for the bowl.  If you want closer tolerances buy a European machine.

A certain clearance between the hook and the bowl should not affect the job, but it's true that a spiral hook performs better than a flat hook for gathering all ingredients. Did you tried to start a kneading with liquids poured first into the bowl, then the flour & other solids ingredients ?

If you want to minimize this clearance anyway, then you may find a C-10/C-210 hook. It's similar to the C-100 one except that it has an amovible shaft fastened with a pin. If you replace this shaft by another one which has been machined longer, then you will may able to set any clearance you want specifically for this hook.
