red velvet elephant ears

Toast

I'm new to the site and new to making any type of dough. I am trying to figure out how to add a red velvet elephant ear to my menu. I'm not sure where to even start. I use frozen dough for my regular elephant ears but want to try to add a product that would increase sales. Could someone please help me with a recipe Thanks in advance.

velvet" elephant ear?   Something to do with chocolate, a palmier, like the cocktail velvet hammer or like a red velvet cake or roll?   Educate me.  I take it there is flour in it and something red.

Always up for a challenge.  :)

food colouring.  :(   Beets?  Elderberry juice?

How do you propose cooking them?  (baking/ deep frying/ frying/ pancake/ form?

If you could link or state your recipe, we might be able to suggest a few tweaks.  No guarantee, you have to do the experimenting.  :)

I've made the elephant ear batter which is like a bread recipe and the way I was going about trying to get the red velvet was added red dye to the milk, shortening mixture and coca powder to the flour.the result was a bland taste. Added powder sugar and I needed in. Still bland. Maybe I need more sugar in the bread recipe?

I was going to suggest the cocoa powder and sugar, but maybe you need some vanilla. I would say more sugar might be needed, but I would suggest drizzling it with some cream cheese frosting like glaze.
