The locating pin in the main drive shaft recently came loose, necessitating a complete tear down, but that was my own fault for accidentally leaving mixing pasta dough with the beater attachment.
Nope. Well, there is a fibre gear as part of the transmission, and it would probably fail before any of the substantial metal gears failed, but as far as I know it's not specifically a failsafe.

Sorry - to be clear, the hooks and attachments now seem to be made in China, and the bowls are made in Korea.
The N50's themselves are still made in Ohio, USA.
I ordered a replacement hook from a2z culinary. I just hope it's a spiral, not a c-hook, which I already have.
It says something about the rest of the mixer if the dough hook was the first thing to break.

Does the N-50 have a plastic failsafe gear like the Kitchenaids do? People have a hard time understanding what that failsafe gear is for.
