I will be in Munich from June 22 till June 24. Having free time in the evenings, I'm very interested in visiting of bread baking workshops and/or masterclasses. Is there anybody from South Germany who can recommend such courses?
I think in Germany the real bakeries seem to be getting less and less, most bakeries are now serving par baked and/or flash frozen beads and pastries. The quality of this stuff is pretty good but it is not why you go to bakery, you can get that type of product at most grocery stores.
In Munich we toured a bakery called Hoffmann's and they where still making their product from scratch and one of the bakers in the back was from our part of Canada, usually immigration seems to flow in the opposite direction. I remember we made pretzels in the back and then all of us enjoyed some deserts in the cafe.
will keep it in mind. Will also try to visit the Hoffman bakery. Have to learn some German, my experience shows that in Munich bakeries English language is a rare bird.
