Lamejun recipes?

Toast

Hi all,

Zainab's beautiful pictures of arabic pizza made me think of a childhood favorite; lamejun, also called Armenian pizza. Anybody have a clue how to make them? Very thin crust, topped with a mysterious combination of ground lamb (or chicken), and unknown seasonings. At present I have to drive 6 hours back to my home town outside Boston to get them :-(

Of course the bakery we go to is right down the street from you, JMonkey. Eastern Lamejun Bakers, on Trapelo Road in Belmont. Check it out if you like Armenian food. The very best stuffed grape leaves I've ever had.

Zainab,

Thank you; if you have a recipe and a chance to post it, my whole family will be forever grateful!

Thanks,

Mmmmm, Lamejun. I'm a Sevan's Bakery guy, myself. I figure since Watertown is the Armenian capital of the U.S., I may as well get there. ;-)

It's been fun living here. Right across the street from Sevan's is Massis Bakery, plus another one just half a block away. If you like Armenian pastries, lavash, humus, dolma (mmmmm, dolma), it's heaven.

This is a photo of Sevan's Bakery (family owned!) in Coolidge Square, Watertown. The photo is courtesy of one of the best local blogs around, period: H2O Town.
