Peach Brown Betty (or what to do with leftover bread)

Profile picture for user Debra Wink

I've been on sort of a baking hiatus due to the heat, and to work on other projects, but this recipe came to me in an email just as the peaches were discounted in my store. And, I had a loaf of bread taking up space in the freezer. So it was destined to be made.

It was simple to throw together, and very tasty, so I thought I'd post it for anyone else looking for ways to use up leftover bread. Or peaches.

That looks amazing! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I can't wait to get to the market for some fresh peaches.

Can't beat the recipe for its simplicity!  And in this heat, that is huge.  Thanks for sharing!

Toast

What a great way to use up my getting-slightly-stale sourdough!

Better yet, the farmers market is tomorrow.

But until our friends in Canada send down some cooler air, I think I'll use my toaster oven for the baking part.

Thanks for the link, Debra.

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!  Thanks for inspiring me- just got a large bag of peaches from the local farmer's market today.  Looks like a great way to use some of those peaches.  Thank you for the recipe.

is better with canned peaches than it is with fresh and the sugar is already added for you. Once you cook the fresh peaches they taste pretty much like the canned only the canned hold together better in baked goods. The fresh peaches have a tendency to turn to mush if your not very careful with them.
