I've been learning how to bake breads the past month or so (without much luck with the artisan bread types). BUT, today I decided to try my hand at a Challah. Here is the pictures of the results. Needless to say I am extremely happy with this recipe! Great "crust and crumb" on this one! I LOVE Challah, and this one tops any I've had from the bakeries.
and cut: (excuse the darkness)

Smartdog,
You've done a wonderful job! I live in Israel so I believe that is really "the land of challah". They come in all different shapes and sizes with/without toppings, and some are sweeter than others. Yours would fit in perfectly - you should be very proud of yourself!

Tell me about it! The first bread I made wouldn't rise...go figure. The yeast was dead! LOL Then I tried the ciabatta recipe from the BBA book, and it had NO HOLES!!! Turned to stone the second day and ended up being PIG fodder for my pot belly. LOL Even she had a hard time chewing that one. hahah Finally, I broke down and bought SAF yeast from KAF...there's no going back now. :)

Well, we live on an 88 acre farm with two horses, 4 pregnant red angus and 2 heifers and 2 steers. Three dogs (two australian shepherds and one shitzu) two cats, 2 rabbits, and one pot belly pig named "Snort" She's a real character! We adopted her and she was a house raised pig that was abandoned due to the original owner moving to an apartment. She's really one of the family, and craves tons of attention...and GOOD home cooked leftovers! LOL
