Gosh! All this flat bread talk has inspired an exercise

It seems I have jumped the gun. Happiness is a warm pita, oh yeah! For tonights exercise I submit the first attempt at whole wheat pita bread. After one more short rest, followed by a bit more gluten development the supple still a bit sticky dough will be put to sleep at room temperature. The shaping and stove top cooking will commence in the morning .

 

there is one Chinese flatbread in my bucket list, basically something like pita, but while still on the skillet, a hole is poked using chopstick, then the bread is filled with omelette batter

one day I'll try to parbake the bread in the oven, and finish it on skillet. To do everything on skillet seems too daunting for me

My mom, RIP, made a whole roasted chicken. She would loosen the skin, the sew it tight on both sides. Then she would pour a egg concoction under the skin, between the meat and skin. Then she would sew up the last bit where she poured in the egg. The cooking would start in a pot of fledgling soup. After the soup was done, the chicken was finished in the oven. None of my sisters got this recipe from mom. It was one of my favorites.
