Eggs and golden hue

Toast

I was speaking to an american farmer from the midwest yesterday (30 year experience) and they were saying that the reason golden yolks are a thing is that the chickens are all pecking at the copper that holds the feed and ingesting it

30 years experience in pulling the legs of city folk, I'd say.  Copper isn't in use these days if it ever was. It's too expensive and too reactive. Also, eggs from small farms that let their chickens forage for themselves most of the time have similar colored eggs (though sometimes with some orange mixed in with the yellow).
