Hello,
Our home cooking range oven is always broken (its dual fuel, gas hob and electric oven), and since there aren’t other good options in my region I am considering getting a separate small “commercial” convection oven.I don't want to go back to a gas oven, just a personal preference.
These are my options:
Venix oven T043M or T04M
Tecnodom EKA oven EKF423 N UD
Roller Grill FC 60 TQ
Unox is also available, but I think the steep price is not justified for home use.
Which oven would you recommend getting?
Also for Venix and EKA, it has the option for humidity, can I simply connect it to a water bottle?
Thank you Regards
I'm not familiar with the ovens you're thinking about, but I have an half sheet Avantco which I would NOT recommend. After I used it, and discovered all it's short comings, I researched commercial convection ovens suitable for home use, and it seemed the Italian made ones looked the best.
I've given up on baking bread in a convection oven, and bought myself a Bakers Pride deck oven. I use the Avantco for other things though. After using it, my suggestion would be: 1) look for one with a switch for the fan, so you can turn the fan on and off as you wish. 2) more than a single speed fan would be nice. 3) look for one with a light. 4) timer that turns the oven off when it expires.
I hope my thoughts help. good luck. Jim
Thank you, Jim!
The thing is, commercial convection ovens usually come with a compulsory fan, unless they are combi ovens or those designed for home use. However, I have tried those home models, and they are not good at all.
With the Roller Grill oven, the advantage is that there are several modes: fan heat only, bottom heating element with a fan for ventilation and heat circulation, and one function with a grill. So, it is the closest to a home convection oven, I guess. However, I didn't find any reviews for it at all.
I think my experience validates your comment. Convection ovens aren't very good for bread baking. If you're wanting to bake something else maybe they're OK. Commercial ones with their lack of flexibilty, probably aren't very good for home use. Jim
