Visiting Dresden and Prague

Toast

I'm visiting Dresden for the next couple of days, then heading to Prague. Any recommendations for what I should try to taste or bring home?

...I went for repeat visits to Eska, a restaurant that also bakes its own bread. I went a couple of years ago not long after it opened, and they baked a 33% rye and a 66% rye, both with their own sourdough culture. The breads were excellent, and maybe they make others by now. It is a bit off the beaten path via subway and a short walk, but well worth the trip. I wrote about it here. And the restaurant is very good, interesting and innovative foods, friendly service, (not much English spoken, but enough to understand). They gifted me some of their sourdough culture which I still maintain, and is distinct from my own rye culture.

I'm heading there in a month or so myself.

And a great response!  I'll be checking that out.

I haven’t visited Prague, yet, but Dresden is beautiful.

Enjoy a Dresdner Eierschecke (cake) in a cafe around the market place, and visit the Zwinger Castle and the rebuilt Frauenkirche.

Have a great trip,

Karin

German supermarkets love to put Christmas stuff on the shelves as early as possible and Dresden has their own Stollen recipe (this amazing German Christmas fruitcake bread cake log thingy), so I wouldn't be surprised if you can get some already.
