White loaf with a twist...

Profile picture for user macette

Today I tried a twist to see if it would split inside , just to make my simple white loaf look pretty....It worked great with 2 ropes of dough.

That is a very appealing loaf and no "shoulders"! I dislike when the overhang occurs. It always seems to break the sandwich when eating. The trick is finding a pan tall enough. Lovely! Lovely crumb!

This is my new tin, I had found one in a charity shop and searched high and low looking for the exact size again ...found it on eBay and am delighted..it produces beautiful loaves and the quality is great.

Almost exactly the same as my small Pullman loaf pan. Dimensions are w.4 × h.4 × l.9 inches ( 10.16 × 10.16 × 22.86 cm).  Sides and ends have a slight flare, ¼in (0.64cm) from bottom to top.  My large pan has the same width and height, but is 13in long (33cm).

The only non-trivial differences I see are that yours is Teflon coated while mine is not (personal preference — I don't care to use Teflon) and that you don't have the slide-on lid.

Shopping for a Pullman pan may be simpler, in the US, at least.  I got mine from Amazon.  See http://amzn.to/2FBDUOp. These pans are also available from various manufacturers with the lid sold separately.

How tall are the sides of that pan? Very hard to find one over 4 inches tall. Can you provide a link to where you saw it online? There is not much searchable info on the pic of the label-no brand ,number or company.

8x4.5x4.5" found on Amazon UK yesterday. I ordered 2 and the bill was only $27 including shipping from the UK. There were also 1, 3, and 4-pound sizes. Made by KitchenCraft and listed as MasterClass non-stick. box-side loaf tin. Well reviewed. I've been looking for ages.  Patsy
