Hi Everyone,
I just made a starter about two weeks ago. I've slowly been experimenting. I made waffles, two pizza crusts, and a loaf of sandwich bread. This morning I baked my first boule. I used Peter Reinhart's 100% Whole Wheat Sourdough Hearth bread recipe from Artisan Breads Every Day. I'm mostly pretty happy with the results. I used King Arthur White Whole Wheat. I didn't add the optional oil, but I did add most of the recommended honey. I just wanted to share. I'm excited to be part of this forum, to have guidance in the process.
For such a newcomer that's a special loaf!
That's a lovely looking loaf, and I bet it tastes good too. I enjoy a lot of recipes out of that book; one of my first bread books!
That's a lovely loaf! A Beauty!
I live in Eden Prairie-southwest of Minneapolis. Where are you?
I'm in Duluth. Come visit sometime. My bakery is Duluth's Best Bread.
My daughter and I visited back in January and some pastries didn't last 2 minutes once we left the premises. The almond croissant was to die for! I would be there every week if we didn't live 4 hours away. I think it time for another visit soon!
We where in Duluth end of June, unfortunately not on a day that you are open. Your product looks very appetizing.
Gerhard
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!
clazar123, I"m in St Paul. So I definitely know where Eden Prairie is.
MichaelLily, I've been meaning to stop by your bakery for the past year or so, since reading about you all in a Heavy Table (I think?) post! I hope to swing by next time I make my way up there. Hopefully late summer/early fall.
Danni3ll3, I just looked at your profile briefly, that rhubarb raisin sourdough looks great! I'm going to have to try that soon! Also have been meaning to get up to Thunder Bay ever since I moved to St Paul seven years ago, but still haven't (mostly because I need a new passport).
Danni3ll3, Just noticed that the rhubarb raisin wasn't yours. Still new to how this forum is set up. Best wishes!
It takes a while to sort everyone out!
