Alcohol starter

My starter smells very alcoholic, I have used the peter reihnhart pinapple juice starter recipe and used wholewheat. Should I throw this out and start again or can I save it? It's on the last stage and is very active just smells really strong like nail polish remover.

It will smell like acetone in early stages, and also when it is hungry. So, as Abe says, feed it a bit more. Even a 1:2:2 ratio is good (so, 50 grams of starter, 100 grams of water and 100 grams of flour). And have patience... :)
