Even with free shipping King Arthur prices are way too high. I used to buy a lot from King Arthur but the prices just kept getting higher and higher -- they no longer really serve the scratch baker. I love their flour but I can buy it in stores here -- other items you can find at half that price elsewhere. Who wants the mixes?
King Arthur is a great company which seems to be moving in an unfortunate direction. At this time, I can still buy their wonderful "Sir Galahad" flour in 50 lb. bags from our local Whole Foods Coop at a reasonable price. Otherwise, their catalog is fun to browse, but out of my league price wise.
I had been put off by their prices and as a result never purchased Sir Lancelot for my NY style pizza. A local food distributor sells to the public and was able to get 50# for 24 dollars which the site can not even come close to (per pound) even with free shipping.

I too buy rarely from KA anymore. I tried a couple of their mixes last year (scones) and the dominant taste was sugar. Inedible. Sad.
