Rowed the Rio Maranon in June and found several wood fired ovens. Fuel was usually Eucalyptus or a tree similar to the Mesquite found in the Desert South West. This was my favorite and was located in a small village just north of the Bagua Valley which just happened to be one of the largest Coca producing regions in Peru.....The oven supplied several types of bread/rolls to the entire village. The bread was awesome, we loaded up and made sandwichs and French Toast for several days...
