So much to read

Hello: I've just joined, although I've been reading (and reading, and reading) for awhile. I'm in the Niagara Peninsula of southern Ontario.

Is there a members' list?  I would like to use it to see who is still active and who hasn't posted for years.Typing a user name into "search" is helpful, but returns an unchronological mishmash. Is there such a list?

Thanks,

Moe

Hi Moe C

i find it extremely helpful if members fill in their user profile especially as we bakers are far and wide, and 1 quick click on someones avatar  can alter any advie one might have to offer if you can see that they are in a different part of the world, It used to be that most folk on TFL would give that information upon joining, its helped me to connect with other local bakers and indeed a good number of International TFL members in the UK, and Dubai as well as visitors from  Malaysia, Cambodia.  SADLY the trend seems to be that people are not bothering with that nicety and from my perspective it lessens the sense of inclusion into the group                                                                                        Over the many years that i have been a member there have been people that come and go some have been great contributers and been very active and develop quite a following  and  then seem to fall by the wayside for whatever reason. but we are lucky their contributions live on and can be revisited.                                                                         i do believe that typing in either a users name  which gives you access to all their contributions to TFL is a great resource. alternatively if you search a particular thing your looking for it will also bring up references to that whether its  a particular bread style or  something mundane like thermometers that members have contibuted to over many years

A local bread group that i belong to here in Western Australia boasts over 300 members but those that are active is just over 100 and those that contribute  either with articles or comments is relatively small. and although i have access to a list of members as an admin  it doesnt help in any way .

Anyway i do hope you enjoy your time with TFL and look forward to seeing your posts.

Thank you for your reply Derek. My problem has been solved by ensuring I was logged in. I seemed to be, but couldn't click on user names. Now I can go to the profile and see when a member's last post was. TFL comes up so often in online searches...but many posts are from 2009, 2010 and earlier. I would think, "I'd like to comment on that or ask a question", but didn't know if the poster was even still around.

Thanks again.

Moe

Another great feature is that you can contact the person direct through message and usually they will respond if they are indeed able to. i know several members although they are not as active as they were at one time do visit quite often. Pleas do consider filling in more of your profile because although you did give an introduction on your first post unless that was seen the information is not there for us all to see. Of late i have chosen to bypass posters that have not afforded the other members that courtesy. .

regards Derek

Okey dokey, done. I'll have to work on the two different avatars, though.
