My 2nd N50 adventure

After winning a n50 for 401$ +83$ shipping I was really happy. When I received the package and saw that it had a hole 1/2 the size of my fist I didn't think much of it. I opened the box and the n50 was wrapped in bubble wrap, stripped it off and found that it had a dent in the back lid. This was the moment of truth, let's see if it works as stated in the add, plugged it in and flipped the switch and all it did was a hum. Turned it off and quickly tried the other 2 gears which also gave a humming noise but no movement.

I contacted the seller right away telling him what happened and sent him the pictures of the box and the dent. He responded quickly apologizing and saying that he made sure it worked before sending it off so he said he would open a claim with UPS.

The second day I had it I opened her up and proceeded to check all gears and everything looked perfect so I went ahead and put in some new grease (mobile1) closed it back up and noticed that now it spun by hand. So I put on the back bearing bracket, hooked up the wires plugged it in, flipped the switch to on to be disappointed by the humming noise and no movement. Right away I turned it off took off the back bracket and spun it by hand and realized it spun. After fiddling with it I realized that the back bracket had 2 micro fracture and when I didn't put it completely pushed up it would spin and when I would push it completely against the motor it would t because it lifted the motor shaft and caused it to hi against the top of its housing (it has something like 1-2 mm play).  Mind you at this point I hadn't found a solution with the seller, I was waiting for him to get back to me with what what he wanted to do (refund or ship back). After find the part used on eBay for 90$ shipped I ordered it because even if the seller would asked me to ship it back to get refund I would decide to keep it as it would still be worth it. Few days go by and the seller writes me with the proposal, 1/2 refund or send back for full, clearly I decided to keep it.

Yesterday the back bracket got here so o quickly installed turned it on and it ran beautifully :)

it's not perfect, but it is in good condition, it took a while to get the dent out and to make it fit snug again but I am happy with the outcome. Here it is all cleaned up and ready for work

Congrats. That cleaned up surprisingly well - with just a few battle scars for character.

1) great looking machine!

2) worth it just so you can use Hamelman recipes with "1st speed, then 2nd speed" ;-)
