hole

HI there

Can anyone tell me what i can do about this hole in my loaf which is now final proofing?  I tried to pinch it close but it's still there.  Just leave it??

LOL. this didnt get back to you in time for the bake.. but that's either from an air bubble or from some dry flour. either pinching or leaving it is perfectly fine.  that's going to be the bottom of your loaf anyways. gravity and expansion will take care of it.

you can always use slightly wet hands to take out/fix imperfections in sticky dough. or use lightly floured hands to fix the top side after you flip it if you must.

Thanks anyway!  i think it worked itself out.  I had a big line across the bottom of the loaf from the parchment paper creasing anyway. it was a disastrous flip from the proofing bowl to the parchment lol

You can minimize disastrous flips like that by placing the parchment on top of your proofing basket, placing your pizza peel (or baking sheet) on top of that, and then quickly flipping the whole assembly in one quick motion.

Thank you! That's a great idea about the pizza peel. Also, I  wasnt using my usual flour sack tea towel for the final proof  , just a 100% cotton dinner napkin and it stuck! I had to peel it off. Lesson learned
