sourdough starter

i made the sourdough starter from pineapple at day7 i made a stupid thing i had it in the oven and without thinking turned it on it was partially baked liquid in the center it looks alive should i try too save it ...............thanks bill

You have absolutely nothing to lose by trying to save it, bj. You probably haven't baked all the beasties, and it doesn't take that many to restart the colony. Give it a shot--(and I've done exactly the same thing. I just took some discard and started over.)

thanks it sure  looks alive how long before i use ittoo bake day 7..........bill

oh, Bill, I'm not the best-qualified to answer that one because I've never begun a starter from scratch, but as I understand it you can bake with it once it is consistently active and bubbly over a matter of a few days. So it depends on how it's doing now. From what I gather, you should be able to use it within two weeks of Day 1, if it looks good.

Plenty of folks here can give you a much more reliable answer, though.
