'Turkish' Pizza

Toast

Hi All,

I just wanted to share the results of little experiment I had with making a "turkish" style pizza.

Its spiced ground beef with spinach and tomatoes in a pizza crust. I'll definitely be making this one again!

For all of us pizza junkies on here, please put up that recipe!

I have a habit of making things up as I go along and this was no exception so you'll need to excuse my vague recipe :)

Dough:
500g 00 White Flour
2 tsp yeast
1 tsp salt
20g olive oil
approx 250ml water

Filling:
400g beef or lamb mince

clove of garlic, crushed
2tsp ground coriander
1tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground fennel
1/8tsp chilli flakes
200ml canned tomatoes
salt
1/2 cup cooked spinich

Extras:

Ready made tomato paste/pizza sauce

Chopped fresh tomato

Parmesan cheese

Coriander leaves

Lemon wedges

and, although I didn't have any I thought a dollop of natural yoghurt would have been nice - added after it had come out of the oven.

Method:
For the dough I mixed all the ingredients and kneaded in the mixer for around 8 minutes with the hook attatchment. I then covered with plastic wrap and left it for an hour or so until it doubled.

Whilst the dough was doing its thing I cooked off the mince in some olive oil, added the spices and then the tinned tomatoes and salt to taste. I let the liquid reduce until I had quite a thick mix and then I added the cooked spinich.

To assemble, I found it easier to roll the dough out on the bench to get the shape and then I transferred it to the baking sheet before adding the toppings.

I spread about a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto the dough, leaving about a 1 inch border, added the beef mix, chopped tomatoes and cheese, crimped the edges as shown in the first pic, brushed with olive oil and then baked for about 10mins at 220 degrees celcius.

After it came out the oven I added fresh coriander/cilantro.
These quantities made 4 pizza's.

Please let me know if any of the above doesn't make sense =)

Oh man... I *love* Turkish pizzas.  The prospect of making them at home fills me with joy... :)

I made this over the weekend and they were great! Thanks Baker007 for posting this recipe. It's a nice change from the usual flavors. The cilantro and lemon are a nice touch.
