Happy Mother's Day and Lucy's 15th Birthday too!
She made it to 15 so Lucy got her promotion to Baker's Apprentice First Class. She sends her congrats to all the mothers out there on this special day.
Lucy celebrated by picking cherry tomatoes this morning. Mom asked for ribs for dinner and they are dry rubbed in the fridge we wll make some some sausages and maybe so chicken thighs too.

and how are you dealing with that new addition to the family..probably far too lively and will be too lively for baking!
NaCl aka Not.a.crumb.left and Carole aka Designing woman had to explain the salt connection! ha, ha....
I'm always looking to find ways to shorten people's handles on the web. and salty seemed to fit you:-) I loved chemistry in college. Amazing how I remember so little of it now since I never used it at all until your name! It's like math. I didn't use it much until I started baking bread. I was teaching my son in law some NMNF math for the 3rd feeding of the stater to get it to 66% hydration just this weekend. I Have been teaching him how to make SD bread and gave him some of my starter to take to Seattle a month ago. He wanted to refresh some of it to let it age for 8 weeks before the one I gave him ran out. I told him to feed 10 g of it 20 g each of flour and water and then 4 hours later feed it 40 g each of flour and water and then when it doubled to thicken it up to 66% hydration and let it rise 25% before putting it in the fridge. His response was how much flour and water would that be?
The new apprentice is in Seattle with the Daughter and SIL. I was face timing with Mabel on Mother's Day and she was frisky for sure. She already knows stay, sit, lay down and shake and is learning high 5 and roll over with crawl like a soldier and bang bang next. Not bad for 15 weeks old but, unlike Lucy, she was bred to be smart and not bred to be dumb! We are going up there to see her for the first time in couple of weeks.
For 15 Lucy is doing well. She is deaf now and her cataracts make her see poorly but otherwise she get around just fine. She liked being made a First Class Baking Apprentice on her birthday.
Happy baking NaCl.
When my poodle developed cataracts, the vet reminded us that it would be a bad idea to move furniture around…
And boy am I glad to hear from you! Looking forward to many pix of May 5 and mother's day food orgies'
Keep on baking,
Carole
another bread to post them later this week.

to Mrs. B! Congrats and Happy Bithday to Lucy! So glad to hear from you!
Yippee
You're the greatest!
Good to hear from you dab. When 5 de Mayo came and went without so much as an Ole! from you, some of us got worried. Whew.
We raised and loved a blind-since-birth german shepherd for 10 years (RIP, Neo). Dogs can adapt to a lot, with our help and love.

All it takes is the will and perseverance if the love is there! Those two things work pretty well for most things that don't come easy!
Happy baking!
I hope you celebrated her with a quinceañera as well as her promotion.
Doxie Heaven since she never, ever gets any bones! She s sleeping on the floor behind me dreaming about that bone!
Happy baking TS
Did you take her to the salon as a birthday treat? She looks so youthful despite being 15 :)
Can't wait to see your Mother's day and Cinco de mayo dinner! For the first in my life, I celebrated cinco de mayo by having a Mexican feast with my parents. How would I miss any opportunity to cook Mexican food?
De Mayo with real Mexican food to enjoy and I bet. DO they celebrate Mother's day In Hong Kong? I bet they do.....time for Google. Of course they do! I hope you cooked up a storm for your Mom on her special day! I'm posting a bake that will have some MD and CDM pictures later today! I will have to check your blog to see what i have missed!
Lucy went to the Jeanies Salon for her Summer buzz cut 2 days ago and she looks really fit for an old apprentice! She gets around way better than I do for sure! She is really going gray around the face though. She is a happy dog!
Happy Baking Elsie!
Congratulations to little Lucy. What a good innings. Go girl!
