Recipe: German - English Translation Needed
Hi All,
This seems like a nice recipe but google translate gave up on a few words. Can anyone help? I've highlighted the words.

Hey, Gare is final rise and Vollgare is full final rise :) We use a similar word in Polish
oatmeal Kleinblatt is possibly small rolled oats, and Grossblatt - jumbo rolled oats
Hauptteigzutaten: haupt - main, Teig - dough, Zutaten - ingredients. Main dough ingredients :)
Anstellgut - starter - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anstellgut
Portionsweise - google translate translates this to portions, which makes sense in the context
I love that word - Hauptteigzutaten. It's a whole sentence in one word.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Looks like a lovely recipe.
I translated this and I got the following:
Kleinblatt - Oat flakes Small leaf
oatmeal Großblatt -Oat flakes Large Leaf
Anstellgut - Adjustment Material ( I assume this is starter based upon the heading of sourdough)
Hauptteigzutaten - main dough
portionsweise- portions
Gare - No translation for this
Hope this helps
Never done a 100% oat sourdough. I've only ever done oats as a soaker and add-ins.
Very helpful.
my hubby is Swiss and I speak Swiss German even though I don't write it easily. Gare is fermentation, and other translations seem correct when you read the original recipe - fine and coarse (Jumbo?) rolled oats, starter, main dough ingredients, portions. Don't you just love the way that google translates - word by word rather than the proper sentence structure in english. I use it sometimes and have to laugh at what is translated. Still it is great that w e can use such a tool to understand another language.
Happy baking Abe, is this your weekend bake this week?
Leslie
Yes, sometimes it, or often actually, it doesn't make sense. But I always have my friends on TFL to help out. Thank you for the confirmation and from someone who speaks Swiss German too.
This is high up on my list to try very soon. Possibly this weekend but I have a challenge I've set for myself going on so it all depends. But cryptic but if it all goes well you'll find out :)
