Love to make pizzas

I love to make pizzas and one thing my wife and I do is have pizza parties..

We invite our friends over and I will do 6+ pizzas in a night..A few years back

I purchased a ceramic cooker because I wanted to be able to cook pizza at 800+ deg..

Interesting -- how does that ceramic cooker work?

A ceramic cooker is just an outdoor oven..you can bake, BBQ, Smoke...in it..

It uses natural lump charcoal and because the cooker is made out of ceramic it will retain heat for a very long time..

Just think of it as a coal oven...on steroids..

here is the link  EGG

It's pretty cool but very familiar.  I haven't seen one of these for ages!  Completely forgot about them in fact.  Did they ever come in blue or grey?

Years ago they were made out of clay...and you could only cook to about 350 deg

The new ceramics will handle heat very well...I have cooked pizza at 1000deg...

As for the colors..I think  The Big Green Egg has always been green..

There are other companies that make a ceramic cooker...

That is good looking pizza!  I have enjoyed learning to make pizza but, boy, are they a lot of work!  Even for the two of us it seems we can't stop at just a couple because we like to try different toppings and we don't mind leftover pizza.  But it takes some time and I'm always amazed at those of you who make so many.

Interestingly, I was seriously considering a Big Green Egg during the summer because we had talked about smoking some meat but I never really took the time to research for the one to buy.  It looks like a neat deal though and now to find out pizzas work in them is even better.

The BGE is expensive but well worth it...

I use mine more for baking and making pizza than anything...

This is a SD loaf I made ....the egg is great for bread..because of the coal fire..it can run as low as 180 deg to 1200 deg...

and just to add to the pain..it really does cook things better than a regular smoker...What I love about it is I can use it when it is 20 deg f outside and it still works like a charm...

Really, you are going to have to stop that (not...hehe) because when I show this to my husband (who is crazy about BBQ) he will go nuts.  That photo looks good enough to eat.  OMG!

If I remember there are a few sizes of Eggs.  Do you recommend one?

If you are going to get one...get the large ...It took me a few years

to get one..but my wife will tell you it is worth the money..

I had a big green egg that my husband brought home from a Vietnam tour in the late 60s.  I literally used it up :)  Over 10 years ago we bought a Kamado and I love it.  I am wondering what the aparatus is that appears to be turned upside down that you are cooking the pizza on under the stone?  Did you find that or did you make it or is it part of an egg?
