Sorry for the stream of edits

People had pointed out to me recently that links in my posts did not work. Today, with some help, I finally figured out why. I did not want the bad links to persist, so I went back and edited the articles that I could to fix them. This caused a flurry of "forum comment" blurps to show up on the front page. Unfortunately, there appears to be now way, when editting one's own post, to indicate that it should not generate such a blurp. Floyd? Is that an idea for a "new" feature?

As long as the edit system isn't abused, IMHO editing a post should put it back on the recent list. Let's say that you had updated a recipe to change "one dozen eggs" to "one egg" - wouldn't you want that correction to come to the attention of those reading the thread?

PS I have seen that URL doubling when pasting a URL into the easy editor myself - I always check for it now.

Yes, I agree, but for the kind of changes I made, you'd want the opposite. I would be comfortable leaving it to the editor to decide (with the default being that it was put back at the top). Since this is a community of like minded people helping each other, I think that such a feature would be rarely abused (the default guarantees sensible behavior in most cases). In certain other forums (eBay comes to mind), there is much more potential for abuse. I have noted that one can not edit a past post anyway if there is a reply to it. This makes perfect sense is any edit could take the reply out of context. Anyway, it was just a suggestion, no biggie.
